Requested by guests: Chocolate Chip Scones
This is a variation of our famous Raisin Scone. It is very versatile. You can use Blueberries or Cranberries and add a vanilla or orange drizzle. Yumo…. Serve with breakfast, afternoon tea/coffee or as a dinner dessert.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Blend with pastry cutter: flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter, heavy cream, eggs and vanilla extract. Fold in chocolate chips. Press into a square 1/2 inch think and cut into triangles. Bake 10-12 minutes
2 1/2 Cups Flour
3 Tablespoons Sugar
4 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1/3 Cup Butter (cold. sliced thin)
1 Cup Mini Dark Chocolate Chips ( or swap for Blue Berries or Cranberries)
1 Cup Heavy Cream
2 Eggs
2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
Optional glaze drizzle after cool:
Vanilla Drizzle : 3 Tbsp power sugar and 1 Tbsp heavy cream.
Orange Drizzle: 3 Tbsp powdered sugar, 1 Tbsp orange juice and add zest of orange.
